Date TBD Planting & Growing Natives: Secrets for Success

October 25 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

THIS EVENT IS BEING RESCHEDULED —OCT 25 is NOT THE FINAL DATE To garden in a more healthy, sustainable, and biologically-diverse way, plants that are native to Kentucky must be included in any planting plan. The myth about planting natives is that they are fail-proof plants and, once planted, need little to no maintenance. This class will discuss using natives in your gardens and landscapes in a variety of ways: how ‘native’ is ‘native’, examining the value of regional versus local natives; tackle the fear that natives are all weedy and invasive; the conditions necessary to grow natives successfully – are they different than growing other perennials; compare the value of pure natives to cultivars; and identify a list of plants that even beginning gardeners can grow successfully.

Meet at the Pavillion    Open to teens/adults.
