About This Event
Co-authored by Brandi LaShay and Hannah Drake, Broken Wings Still Fly is a raw and poignant theatrical experience featuring the voices of hidden heroines. Witness their remarkable stories of love, motherhood, heartbreak, resilience, and ultimate triumph. This expanded version includes new monologues, thanks to support from Brown-Forman!
Before the performance, we’ll have mobile murals set up for community painting. These murals will be of Black women who have worked to dismantle structural racism in Kentucky. Food trucks will be available and the space will be enhance by music from a local DJ. We’ll also give away (Un)Known Project coloring books featuring influential Black women of Kentucky. A talkback discussion will take place following the performance.
Note: This production contains material of a highly sensitive nature, including sexual assault and family separation, which may be triggering for some viewers.
